Abetone and Pistoia Mountain

The zone of montagna pistoiese is known especially to be centre of the famous ski station of Appennino Tosco-emiliano: Abetone. The mountain encircled in fact also Passo dell'Abetone with its 1.388 mt., which dues its popularity to the heights around it.

Abetone is charcterised by an enourmous conifer wood which marks the territory of the Common, whose interest is especially naturalistic and sporting. Nonetheless, some buildings are meant to be marked: Dogana and la Stazione di Posta, San Leopoldo church, Piramidi. During the good season, leaved ski apart, this is a perfect for those who want to come in contact with flora and fauna. In the zone are some of the bautiful lakes: among them lago Piatto, situated in Val di Luce. To be visited also the bonatical garden, where finishes one of the itineraries of Ecomuseo of Montagna Pistoiese. During the winter this is a famous ski station, with alot of ski runs for eveybody.

Other places to visit are: Cutigliano, picturesque borough in the high Appennino Pistoiese placed near to Cuccola mount; Piteglio is a renowed holiday place, which during the summer is animated by cultural and folkloristic events;San Marcello, village of ancient origins; Lizzano; Mammiano and Ponte Sospeso.
