Elba is the biggest island of Arcipelago Toscano, the third italian island for dimensions. It is 10 km. Far from the mainland, is extension is 224 kmq., its coast is 147 km. Long, while its asphalted roads are 190 km. long. It has 30.000 inhabitants in the winter period and it has 8 commons. You can get Elba with ferrys that takes 1 hour to cross the sea or faster trasport like catamarans that take 20-30 minuti. You can take also the plane: Pila airport at Marina di Campo is connected with italian and european villages. Favourite by Italian and European, especially German, Isola d'Elba has a modern and well equipped turistic structure. Besides the natural beauties (the wonderfull sea with 10 km of sandy beach, 4km of pebbly beach and 3 of bathing cliffs) are on the island museums, sport systems, diving centres, golf course, manege, game parks, surf schools.
The most important localities of turistic interest are: Marina di Campo, Capoliveri, Porto Azzurro, Marciana Marina, Marciana, Portoferraio, Cavoli, Rio Marina, Rio Elba, Biodola, Viticcio and Procchio.
It is important the presence of Napoleon on the island. When he disembarked, Napoleone gave to the island a flag, that will be the Elba flag foreve: three golden bees on a red stripe on a white field, symbol of intelligence and industry. At Portoferraio we can admire villa dei Mulini, where Napoleon lived and in thye countryside villa San Martino, built under Napoleon influence. Near is a Napoleon museum, built by the prince Demidoff.

Visiting our wonderful island you can't miss to discover the traditional dishes that offers you a big variety from sea to mountain. Thanks to this poor but good, you can taste amng first courses the famous 'acqua pazza', among the cakes 'schiaccia 'briaca together with limoncino from Elba.
The island offers a lot of turistic structures (hotel, bed &breakfast, campeggi) but also a lot of activities like birdwatching, naturalistic escursions: by foot, by bike or on horse. The sea permits you a lot of sport activities: from surf to kayak or immersions, but you can choose to relaz and sunbathe. Particular pleasant is shopping in Elba, especially in the evening, when are artisan markets set in the historical centre of the villages: the narrow lanes, the balconies with flowers, the arches that give a calm and pleasant atmosphere.
