“Saltino” is situated on a rocky promontory along the slopes of the Pratomagno massif. It is a place from which, one has always been able to admire one of the most beautiful views of the Tuscan mountains, they are evocative and invite one to meditation and spirituality. It is the entryway to the well-known Vallombrosa forest, inside of which can be found the awe-inspiring Abbey of Vallombrosa. Saltino offers noteworthy opportunities of cultural, natural, and panoramic interest. It is a health resort at 1000 m above sea level, is near Florence and dominates the eastern entrance to the Florentine valley, with views over the Valdisieve and the Valdarno. The awe-inspiring Abbey of Vallombrosa is located just 1 km from the hotel. Its earliest wooden construction dates from 1038, a work dedicated to S. Giovanni Gualberto. In the summer months, there are guided visits of the monumental religious complex and the adjoining arboretum of the State Forest Corps (Arboreto Sperimentale del Corpo Forestale dello Stato). Saltino is 40 minutes by car from the important museums of Florence and buses run there at regular intervals. The environment lends itself to walks among the centuries-old fir trees of the "Vallombrosa Forest", as well as to hikes or mountain-biking among the green beech-woods which adorn the Pratomagno massif, from which one can admire the beautiful nearby valleys filled with numerous churches, villas and castles to visit.
