Wine road Colli di Candia e Lunigiana
The high wine vocation of Massa-Carrara is testified by the presence of two denominations of wines DOC: "Candia dei colli Apuani" in the nearby of the hills MassaCarrara and Montignoso, "Colli di Luni" in the nearby of Colli di Fosdinovo, Podenzana, Caprigliola and IGT "Val di Magra", letting to the road wine of "Colli di Candia e di Lunigiana" to pass all the provincial territory. The rural world in Apuane mountains, integrated in the urban ambient, keeps the ancient tuscan culture, often diluited in the territory, in a landscape modelled in centuries showing ties that join forests, vineyards, pievi, castels, colonical houses.
The turist traveller could discover the rurality of the territory in a strict relation with the cultural, ambiental, historical and social contest, really typical. He will join the landscape of the Apuana and Lunigiana coast, discovering the areas remained to the natural state in order to appreciate the sour peaks of the Apuane , the sturdy reliefs of Appennino from which you can have wonderful sightseeings, the costal plains or the diffuse system of the historical takesovers.
In this border area between three regions, the tuscan gastronomy tradition are mixed with those of Liguria and Emilia, with so many shandings how many are the countries of the Lunigiana and the coast, valuing the old and poor tuscan gastronomy with the typical production of oil and wine of great quality. The main route which starts from the south from Montignoso, follows the Apennini ridge, crossing Massa, Carrara, Fosdinovoin order to dip in the hinterland of Lunigiana and to reach Pontremoli.
