Strada Medicea dei vini di Carmignano
This is the zone where are produced: Carmignano DOCG, great wine of pleasant aging but good also not aged; Barco Reale, whose name is taken from the old estate; Vin Ruspo (or Rosato di Carmignano), all with the same base. This is the first denomination of tuscan origins which prescribes with Sangiovese also Cabernet (up to 20%), Canaiolo and other complementary wines.
Vin Santo di Carmignano DOC, one of the most appreciated, is produced with white grapes and Vin Santo di Carmignano Occhio di Pernice DOC with red grapes. The nature and the vineyards are the main craftmen of quality of the wines. An honest wine producer must recognize that "the great wines are sons of the great zones".
